  15.      _E_Z_s_e_t_u_p, also referred to as _S_y_s_t_e_m _S_e_t_u_p, provides basic system
  16.      administration and user account configuration.  EZsetup eases first-time
  17.      set up of a new IRIX system or of a new user account.
  18.  
  19.      In IRIX 6.5.14, EZsetup's appearance (layout and colors) was modernized.

  21.      Logging in as _E_Z_s_e_t_u_p launches a web-based application running in a
  22.      customized version of the _w_e_b_v_i_e_w_e_r browser from which users can do the
  23.      following:

  25.      1. Set up some basic system security
  26.  
  27.      2. Set up basic networking
  28.  
  29.      3. Add a user to the system
  30.  
  31.      4. Configure World Wide Web Access for the user added in step 3
  32.  
  33.      5. Configure portions of the Desktop for the user added in step 3
  34.  
  35.      Steps 1-3 are accomplished via the graphical system administration tools,
  36.      available during a normal login session from the System Manager
  37.      (////uuuussssrrrr////ssssyyyyssssaaaaddddmmmm////bbbbiiiinnnn////ssssyyyyssssmmmmggggrrrr).  Steps 4 and 5, the World Wide Web Access and
  38.      Desktop Configuration tools, are custom to _E_Z_s_e_t_u_p, however they both
  39.      specify which desktop applications can be used to change the settings
  40.      after logging in.

  42.      Step 4, the World Wide Web Access portion, allows the user to set up
  43.      their web access, including default web page when the browser is
  44.      launched, SOCKS server, proxy server and Java/Javascript default
  45.      settings.

  47.      Note that the configuration files format is determined by the version of
  48.      the Netscape browser installed on the system in /_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_X_1_1/_n_e_t_s_c_a_p_e at
  49.      the time that _E_Z_s_e_t_u_p is run.  Netscape 3 and Netscape 4 preference file
  50.      formats are supported.

  52.      Step 5, the Configure Desktop portion, allows the user to choose between
  53.      two configurations that cause the desktop to behave more like a UNIX
  54.      environment or a Mac/PC environment.  In the former, system notifications
  55.      appear in the system console, windows receive implicit focus when the
  56.      mouse enters their borders and the toolchest appears in a vertical
  57.      orientation.  In the Mac/PC configuration style,  system notifications
  58.      appear in a separate dialog box which pops up when appropriate,  the user
  59.      must click in a window for it to receive input focus, and the toolchest

  77.      In order for the web and desktop configuration changes to be made, the
  78.      user account must be created with a home directory that is writable by
  79.      that user at the time _E_Z_s_e_t_u_p is run.

  81.      You must log in to the EZsetup account to use the EZsetup application; it
  82.      cannot be invoked from a shell.  Also note that _E_Z_s_e_t_u_p can be run from
  83.      the _E_n_t_r_y_s_p_a_c_e section of the _O_2 _O_u_t_O_f_B_o_x _E_x_p_e_r_i_e_n_c_e .
